Sophomore quarterback Caleb Frye has the tools to be an all-conference performer later in his career.

While some games this season didn’t have that much credence, last week’s certainly did.

Simpson lost 51-45, but Frye, of Ogden, threw for a career-high 333 yards, four touchdowns and no picks on 24 of 42 passing. He also ran for a team-high and career-high 132 yards on his way to our honor for The Simpsonian student-athlete of the week.

“I think that Caleb made that next step,” head coach Jim Glogowski said. “He made some phenomenal plays.”

On the season, basically his rookie year after making 12 passes as a freshman, Frye has thrown for 1,525 yards, 13 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He has also added 346 yards on the ground.

Frye saw the majority of his 2014 playing time against Luther last year, and he’ll get another crack at the Norse on Saturday as the Storm heads to Decorah.
