Mark Cronin had an impressive career on the football field. What is even more impressive is what he has been able to do off of the field at the same time.

For the second year in a row Cronin, who is double majoring in Economics: Finance and Accounting, has received Capital One Academic All-District Football First Team honors with his 3.9 GPA and football performance during the season.

This award is given to football players by position throughout different districts in the nation. It is given to recognize the nation’s top student‐athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.

“I am very happy to receive this award,” Cronin said. “I am passionate about my studies and this award is better than an honor that I could receive for just football or just academic because it shows my passion for on the field and off.”

This is Cronin’s second year of eligibility for the award and his second year winning. Only juniors and seniors are eligible.

“I was unaware of the award before I received it my junior year,” said Cronin. “But after I got it the first time, it was on my radar and I wanted to get it again my senior year for sure.”

Cronin was the only Simpson player to receive the award this year. Last year, Cronin shared the award with then seniors Braden Everding and Jarrod Schott.

The Academic All‐District teams are divided among eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. Division I, II, III receive separate awards, and another college division for NAIA, Canadian and two-year schools.

After Simpson, Cronin is unsure about what he is going to do as far as a job goes, however, he plans take the CPA (Certified Public Accountant) exam to receive his CPA certificate.
