Storm lose second straight game in OT

by Billy Weathers

After sticking with the number one team in the conference, Luther Norse, shot for shot in regulation, the Storm lose a close one in OT 93-86.

Sophomore Charles Swain started off slow in the first half playing 18 minutes and scoring seven points while grabbing three rebounds, but caught fire early in the second half. Swain finished with 28 points on 9 of 19 shooting from the field. Swain was 50 percent from behind the arc going 4 of 8. He also hit the three that helped send the Storm into overtime with one second left.

Senior Olu Rotibi finished with 15 points, and was one rebound away from a double-double, grabbing nine.

The Storm had a tough time slowing down the Norse’s forward Tyler Wedemeier. He finished the game with a double-double scoring 28 points and 10 rebounds. He was 9-14 from the field and 10 for 11 from the free-throw line.

The Storm were able to finish out strong to end the first half trailing the Norse 33-32 heading into the break.

Simpson’s bench was outmatched. The Norse bench contributed 20 points while the Storm was only able to score five.

Turnovers hurt the Storm late, especially in overtime. Two crucial ones late put the game essentially out of reach for the Storm.

As the lead became insurmountable the Storm began foul and sent the Norse to the line where they didn’t miss and finished the game out with a final of 93-86.

The Storm will look to stop the three-game losing streak as the head to Wartburg on Wednesday. Tip off is at is 8 p.m.
