Women’s Soccer shutout in loss at Clarke University

Simpson was overmatched by NAIA opponent Clarke University Wednesday, as the Storm were shutout 4-0.

The Crusaders (2-6) got on the board in the 3rd minute on a Ally Noethe goal. Clarke followed with two more goals in the first half to take a 3-0 lead into halftime. Lydia Storms scored Clarke’s fourth and final goal, and her second of the game, in the 86th minute.

Simpson (0-7) put forth an anemic offensive attack only putting up 7 shots against Clarke’s 22 shots. Kristin Riley was busy in the goal, making 11 saves despite allowing four goals.

With another shutout, Simpson’s goal scoring margin drops to 2-25 on the year.

The women’s soccer squad will be happy to finally return from their 5-game road trip as they host Westminster College at 3 p.m. on Friday. En lieu of Friday night high school football at Bill Buxton Stadium, this game will be played at Indianola Middle School.
