MILWAUKEE, Wis – Volleyball extended their winning streak to three matches on Friday after defeating Wisconsin Lutheran and Marian University in their first two matches of the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference/ Iowa Intercollegiate Conference Crossover. This is Simpson’s second straight year competing in this invite, following a 4-0 performance last year in Wisconsin Dells, Wis.

Match 1: Simpson 3, Wis. Lutheran 0 (25-21, 25-13, 25-19)

The Storm (8-6) had a field day against a scuffling Wisconsin Lutheran team, dispatching the 0-9 Warriors in straight sets.

An emerging Elisa Wildy filled up the stat column for the Storm, notching a team-high 12 kills while hitting a healthy .385. Wildy didn’t just come to play offensively as she led Simpson with nine digs and contributed with a block.

Simpson was effective on serve, putting away nine aces to the Warriors’ three.

Mackenzie McGraw followed up with nine kills of her own while Tabitha Blaser added eight kills to the Simpson cause. Katie Kieffer was her usual self, setting up 24 assists for Simpson as they played their way to a commanding route of Wisconsin Lutheran.

Match 2: Simpson 3, Marian 1 (25-19, 25-23, 21-25, 25-15)

Simpson again took advantage of a weaker 4-11 Marian University team to secure their second win of the tournament and their sixth straight victory in the NACC/IACC Crossover dating back to last year.

Blaser found herself in a familiar spot, leading the Storm with 12 kills while Mackenzie McGraw and Torey Buenger also hit double digits in the kills column at 11. Buenger played efficiently, hitting .391, part of the reason Simpson finished with a .241 hitting percentage as a team.

Katie Kieffer made it ten 40-assist games on the year as she ended the match with 41 assists. Kayla Aronow did what she’s be doing best, leading the Storm with 15 digs.

Simpson had a block party against Marian, blocking eight of the Sabres hits.
