PELLA, Iowa – Junior Kelli Ehrhardt led women’s tennis at the IIAC Championship, taking second place in Flight B singles on Saturday.

Ehrhardt took down top-seeded Lizzie Rucker of Wartburg College, 6-4, 7-6 (6) to advance to the finals where she lost Luther’s Haley Johnson 6-3, 6-1.

Another bright spot for Simpson at the tournament was doubles team of Michelle Hartmann and Kelli Greiner, winning two matches on Friday before finally falling to Rucker/Friedly of Wartburg 9-8 (6) in the quarterfinals.

This tournament concludes a season of improvement for the women’s tennis team who didn’t even earn a spot in the IIAC Championship Tournament last year.
