Men and Women’s Cross Country Place 2nd at Loras Invitational

DUBUQUE, Iowa – Both the men and women notched their highest finishes in any invite on the season, placing 2nd out of five teams at the Loras Invitational in Dubuque Friday.

On the men’s side, Loras ran away with the competition, with nine of their runners finishing in the first 10 of the field. This had much to do with the Duhawks finishing with a race low, 15 points, on their way to a first place finish in the men’s heat.

The highest finisher on the men’s side was junior Nick Yaeger who placed 12th out of the heat of 81, with a time of 27:12.4. Close behind in 20th was Ethan Pellegrino.

Women’s Cross Country:

The women also finished second out of the five team Loras Invitational, only finishing behind Loras College who set the pace with 39 points, 10 below Simpson’s 49.

Briana McCloskey led the Storm women with a fourth place finish, finishing with a time of 24:05.08. Freshman Sadie Timms was right behind McCloskey, finishing fifth in the field of 77.

Behind Simpson was Dubuque in third, Monmouth College in fourth, and finally Coe College in fifth.
