DES MOINES, Iowa – Women’s basketball had four players score in double figures as the Storm cruised to a 70-42 victory over AIB Saturday.

An AIB team that shot only 22.7 percent trailed all afternoon, as Simpson lead the entire way after scoring the first two points with 17:46 to go in the first half.

Katie Ahrenholtz and Rachel Kaale lead the way with 13 points apiece.

Britney Boland made the most out of her 19 minutes of playing time, accumulating 12 points and nine rebounds.

Maddie Muhlenbruck lead Simpson (3-1) with three assists while getting herself 10 pionts as Simpson College shot 46.3 percent from the floor.

Despite shooting only 10 percent from behind the arc, Simpson outrebounded the Eagles 49-40 while stealing the ball from AIB (3-6) 15 times.

Sophomore guard, Brittany Hedrick, was not suited up for Saturday’s game as she was sidelined with a lower body injury sustained earlier this week.

In Simpson’s three wins, the Storm have outscored opponents by an average of 31 points.

Women’s basketball will face another NAIA opponent foe from Iowa as they host Mt. Mercy College in their home opener this Tuesday.

Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m. as the Storm welcome the Mustangs to Cowles Fieldhouse.
