Women’s basketball dominates wire to wire, wins by 39 over Macalester

STORM LAKE, Iowa – Simpson women’s basketball outscored the Macalester College Scots 33-16 in the second half as they blew out the MIAC foe, 76-37 at the Buena Vista Classic Friday night.

Simpson (5-1) entered 15 players into the game, with no player playing for more than 19 minutes as they continued to give the whole bench playing time in preparation for the conference season.

Freshman Rachel Kaale continued to standout, leading all scorers with 16 points as Morgan Mauro followed up with 11 points and three 3-point field goals for the second consecutive game.

The Storm shared the ball well, dishing out 22 assists to only seven from Macalester (2-2), on the way to 46 points off the Storm bench.

Whitney Van Wyk played a well-rounded game for the Storm, adding five points, five rebounds, two assists, three steals, and one block.

Since losing to UW-Lacrosse, Simpson has outscored opponents by 97 points in their four game winning streak.

The Storm will finish up play at the Buena Vista Classic in Storm Lake tomorrow as they take on NAIA, Presentation College, at 1 p.m.
