DUBUQUE, Iowa – Simpson women’s basketball was outshot, 47.9 percent to only 35.7 while also being outrebounded 42-25 as they fell to Loras College 65-53 Wednesday.

The game was marked by five lead changes as Loras held a 31-26 lead at the half. Simpson hung tough with the Duhawks, only trailing 51-48 with five minutes remaining.

From that point, Loras went on a 14-5 run to close out the game as Simpson fell to 11-3 overall and 1-2 in the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

The Duhawks (8-6, 2-1 IIAC) were lead by Carly Goede with 17 points and Therese McMahon who added 14.

Victoria May pulled a game-high 10 rebounds as no Simpson player had more than four rebounds.

On Simpson’s side, the lone Storm player in double-figures was Britney Boland who had 15.

MacKenzie Haupt, Rachel Kaale and Brittany Hedrick all added seven points.

A point of concern over the first three conference games has been rebounding. So far, Simpson has been outrebounded 135-89 in IIAC play.

Next up for the Storm are the 10-4 (1-2 IIAC) Wartburg Knights this Saturday, Jan. 17.

Tip-off is at 2 p.m. in Waverly.
