Simpson’s tournament run came to an end Saturday when they fell to No. 3 Illinois Wesleyan 83-53 in the second round of the NCAA Division III Women’s Championship.An injured senior guard Katie Kitzman turned in an 11-point effort despite a sore ankle from Friday night’s game Sophomore center Stacey Schutjer also helped lead the way with 11 points, sophomore forward Ali Sokol contributed nine points and eight boards. Junior guard Hope Schulte of IWU led all scorers with 22 points. Illinois Wesleyan shot 39 percent from the field to Simpson’s 35 percent. They also won the rebounding battle 49-32. The Storm finished the season an impressive 23-6. IWU advanced to the Sweet 16 and will play Wisconsin-Stevens Point next weekend.
