WARREN COUNTY, Iowa — Three people were injured Saturday afternoon after a collision in Warren County, according to an Iowa State Patrol crash report.

The crash happened around 2:40 p.m. near Highway 65/69 and McGregor Street, south of Indianola.

The report said Austin Kartchner, 17, of Osceola, was southbound when he tried to swerve to avoid rear-ending a group of cars that were stopped for a vehicle turning onto McGregor Street.

But in the process, he crossed the center line and hit a pickup truck, driven by Adam Richman, 21, of Urbandale, who plays baseball for Simpson College.

Richman was treated and released at the scene.

Kartchner was flown to Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines in critical condition. His passenger, Kodi Shuff, 16, of Osceola, suffered serious injuries and was also taken to Mercy Medical Center.

The crash remains under investigation.
