Simpson graduate involved in deadly car accident

A 2001 Simpson graduate was involved in an accident that killed a 23-year-old Dyersville man on Dec. 12, 2001, according to an Iowa State Police report.

Seth Vredenburg, who graduated in May 2001, was driving northbound on Interstate 35 when, according to the accident report, he struck a semi driven by Roger Brock. Vredenburg lost control and went across the median at approximately mile marker 102.

Vredenburg hit a 1991 Honda Accord in the southbound lane, driven by Dean Funke, who died as a result of the accident. The incident is still under investigation and charges are pending.

Vredenburg graduated from Simpson with a degree in biology and was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He is attending veterinary school at Iowa State University. Vredenburg could not be reached for comment.
