The name of the mysterious donor of Simpson’s $4 million gift was released earlier this week, and in the spring students will see the construction of the Kent Campus Center – no longer the Brenton Student Center.

Gage Kent, president and CEO of Muscatine Foods Corporation, pledged the gift on behalf of the Kent Family to Simpson President John Byrd on Sept. 23, according to the college’s press release.

“We are humbled and honored that this respected family has maintained such generous support for Simpson over the last 90 years, and is committed to seeing us improve the Simpson experience for generations of students to come,” Vice President of College Advancement Bob Lane said in the press release.

According to Lane, Simpson is sitting with approximately $10.5 million, and the projected cost of the new campus center is $14 million.

“The Kent family has generously supported Simpson College for many years, and this gift reflects their deep commitment to higher education,” Byrd said in the press release. “Our mission and the students we serve.”
