The Simpson Storm Women’s Basketball team was taking on AIB Tuesday night looking to come away with a win to make the taste of turkey much more enjoyable.

The Storm came into tonight’s game 2-0 on the early campaign while AIB is coming in at a 1-3 overall record.

The first half of tonight’s game was dominated by the Storm ending the half leading 58-29. The Storm looked strong all around, leading virtually in every statistical category. AIB did not seem to have an answer for the Storm the as they were getting outrebounded, having their shots blocked, and committing costly turnovers created by the Storm.

All of the starters for the Storm had contributed in the half with the offense being led by Senior Kate Nielsen, who came out on a terror shooting the basketball.

An interesting change of events took place in the second half as the gym lights went out and never came back on so the game continued in the dark. Luckily for the Storm, this would not affect their game plan. With the game safely in control of the Storm, the second half Simpson saw a lot of the future of the program on the floor as many of the first years received some quality minutes.

The Storm did not try to do too much in the second half except continue to play hard on defense and then turn in to cruise control on the offensive end making sure not to run up the score.

Overall it was a team effort and dominant performance by the Storm, who came away with the win over AIB 82-54. Nielsen shined again as she put up 23 points going 9-10 from the field as well as collecting 6 rebounds.

The Storm will be in action again this upcoming Friday, November 23 and Saturday, November 24 where they will be participating in the Buena Vista Classic.
