Storm to face Wartburg, William Penn to follow

Matching its win total from last season, the 12-2, 1-1 IIAC Simpson volleyball team played a perfect two-days of volleyball this past week.
The Storm went 4-0 at the IIAC-NACC Crossover tournament, which took place in Wisconsin Dells, Wisc. At day one of the tournament, Simpson defeated Wisconsin Lutheran (25-19, 25-21, 25-17) and Marian (25-14, 25-18, 25-18). On the second day, Simpson came out on top over Aurora (25-18, 32-30 25-16) and Concordia (Wisc.) in four sets (25-22, 25-22, 22-25 and 25-22).
Simpson will look to continue its win streak as conference play begins on Oct. 2 against Wartburg and a non-conference battle against William Penn on Oct. 7.
The Knights (12-6, 2-0 IIAC) are coming into its match-up with the Storm with a perfect 4-0 record from the IIAC-NACC Crossover tournament as well. Bailey Wilson, Ramey Siek and Marissa Shinstine lead the Wartburg volleyball team. Wilson has a team-high of 167 kills with an attack percentage of almost 40 percent, averaging 2.61 kills per set. Siek leads the team in assists with 546 while Shinstine has 243 digs.
Other offensive threats for the Knights include Maddie Forsyth and Kelly Niemann. Forsyith has record 165 kills on the year, while Niemann is just one shy from her teammate, posting 164 kills thus far.
William Penn is currently 11-15 on the year. Leading the Statesmen are Kylie Giger, Dayna Sammons and Danielle Breeher. Giger leads the team in kills with 206, Sammons in assists with 464 and Breeher in digs with 390.
Other offensive threats for the Statesmen are Krystal Campos and Alanna Connors. Campos has 195 kills so far this season while Connors has 173.
Scheduled time for the match between Simpson vs. Wartburg is slated to begin at 7:30 p.m., while the match between William Penn at Simpson will begin at 7:30 p.m.
