Women End Round 1 of IIAC Championship in 6th

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – After the first of four rounds at the IIAC Championship from Cedar Falls’, Pheasant Ridge Golf Course, women’s golf sits at sixth place amongst the eight IIAC conference teams competing in the championship tournament.

Senior Lesley Pearey was the highest finisher for the Storm, placing 17th in the field of 38 competitors. Pearey shot an 87 for the day, good enough for +15.

Collectively Simpson shot a 364 on Friday morning, 76 over the par of 288.

The Wartburg women continued their golfing dominance, ending round one in first overall and individually, as the Knights filled places one through four on the individual leader board.

Wartburg’s Rochelle Beardsley leads all competitors after shooting only two over par at a 74.

Simpson brought four other golfers to compete in Cedar Falls this weekend, including:

Holly Baiotto: 90 (+18) t-26th

Allison McArtor: 93 (+21) 31st

Coltyn Hunter: 94 (+22) 32nd

Courtney Mabeus: 106 (+34) 35th

Round one finishers places one through three (Wartburg, Central and Luther) will tee off for round two at 9 a.m. Saturday. Loras, Coe, and Simpson will begin their round at 9:40 a.m., followed by seventh place Buena Vista and eight place Coe at 10:20 a.m.
