Women’s golf end round 2 of IIAC Championship in second place

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – Simpson women’s golf shot a 358 on Saturday cutting six shots from their Round 1 score to finish the second of four rounds in the IIAC Championship.

Simpson sits at 722 shots through the first two rounds, just six shots behind Coe College for fifth place.

Wartburg College continues to lead the pack in first, setting the pace with an overall score of 611. Wartburg holds a considerable 37-stroke lead over second place Central College.

Morgan McMillan of Wartburg took over first place on Saturday after shooting a 71, and an 150 overall. McMillan leads teammate Rochelle Beardsley who is tied for second place with Central College’s Kelsey Van Tasell.

Once again Senior Lesley Pearey lead Simpson, shooting her second 87 in as many days. Pearey is currently tied for 21st out of the 38 golfing in the IIAC Championship.

Behind Pearey for Simpson were:

Allison McArtor: 181 (+37)- 28th

Coltyn Hunter: 183 (+39)- 30th

Holly Baiotto: 184 (+40)- t-31st

Courtney Mabeus: 204 (+60)- 35th

The final two rounds of the IIAC Championship will occur over Oct. 3-4 in Dubuque. The first wave of teams will tee off beginning at 10 a.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. on Saturday.
