Early deficit, stingy Nebraska Wesleyan defense blanks women’s soccer
September 16, 2015
The Simpson Women’s soccer team’s pursuit for a three-game winning streak was halted Wednesday night as they lost 2-0 on the road against Nebraska Wesleyan.
Simpson’s offense, which had outscored its opponents 6-2 in its last two games, was finally halted, being outshot 11-4 (7-2 on goal).
The Prairie Wolves (3-2) got the scoring started early on a Katelin Blosser goal off a rebound, her fourth of the season.
Simpson’s defense was stellar for the rest of the match until the 88th minute, when Laurel Heskett knocked in a penalty kick, her first of the year.
Kristen Riley was solid in goal for the Storm (2-3), making five saves on seven chances. Riley fell to 1-2 on the season in goal.
The Storm women return to play Saturday when they take on the 3-1 St. Mary (NE) Flames at 1 p.m. at Buxton Stadium.
