If you want a nice, delicious burger to hit the spot, I can absolutely guarantee In-N-Out will not deliver the satisfaction you are hoping for, but Whataburger will. As you read this, you may think to yourself: “Why am I reading about two fast food places located outside of Iowa?” Let me tell you why.
Growing up in Texas, I quickly learned Whataburger is not your typical fast-food place. It is not only a tradition to go to after high school games or late-night food runs with your family after a night out, but it is something more than that; it is the full experience which comes along with it all.
In-N-Out serves typical-sized burgers with cardboard-like fries; even the ketchup couldn’t help you scarf them down. When it comes to Whataburger, you have two burger sizes to choose from. If you are a little hungrier than normal, you can get the bigger option. If you are not in the mood for a big burger but still want a little bite of greatness, get the junior burger. Don’t forget the toppings, as these make it so much better.
Then there is the endless menu, which consists of a variety of everything: breakfast sandwiches, chicken, taquitos, fries, shakes and a laundry list of sauces to choose from. This is what keeps you coming back for more. In-N-Out? Burgers, fries, and shakes; there is barely anything to choose from.
Sure, In-N-Out has a secret menu, but you shouldn’t have to crack the code to get something mediocre. With Whataburger, they dominate by customizing your meal to your exact liking. If you want extra onions and a crap load of jalapenos, go for it. They will get the job done with no complaints and a smile on their face. The options and customizations are endless.
Not only is Whataburger an amazing place to eat, but it is an amazing place to shop. It provides a wide range of merchandise for you to pick from, anywhere from accessories to apparel. Not to mention, you can buy their sauces in the local grocery store. I know In-N-Out can not compare to this type of customer satisfaction.
Now, I have given In-N-Out a fair chance by ruining my taste buds twice. Yes! I gave it two chances, and both times I was extremely dissatisfied. I can truly tell you with the bottom of my pure Texan heart, Whataburger is the only right answer when it comes to a good burger. In-N-Out may have a good fan base, but it won’t compare to the experience you’ll have for a lifetime at Whataburger.
Next time you are feeling adventurous or even a little bored here on campus, you can take a trip to the closest Whataburger in Kansas City, Missouri, where you will feel the satisfaction of a delicious meal and an amazing time to cherish forever.
