Grinnell swimming dominates own Pioneer Classic

GRINNELL, Iowa – Midwest Division III swimming and diving teams met at the Pioneer Classic at Grinnell College this past Friday and Saturday.
The Simpson women were led by performances from Mikala Williams-Yee, Tori Haag and Haley Blum as they finished 6th/11.
Kyle McKim and Dylan Gray had the best individual performances on the men’s side, coming in the breaststroke and freestyle races, placing the men in 8th/10.

Top Simpson Women Individual Performances
Williams-Yee had the best individual performance for Simpson, finishing an impressive 6th/35 in the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:13.95 in the finals.
Blum and Haag also had top 10 finishes for the women, with Haag swimming the finals of the 100-yard IM in 1:07.71 for 9th/29.
Blum posted 9th/25 finishes in both the 100-yard and 200-yard breaststroke.
Top Simpson Men Individual Performances
Kyle McKim has been consistent throughout his entire career and that continued this weekend. The senior sawm the final round of the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:01.52 to finish 4th/37. It was the best individual performance in any race for the Storm.
He also brought his game in the 200-yard breaststroke. McKim touched the wall in the finals in 2:20.91, good for 6th/26.
Dylan Gray just missed out on the top-10 in the 50-yard freestyle. The junior swam the final heat in 22.69 for 11th/53.
A month off
It will be over a month until Simpson has a meet on their schedule. The next time they compete they’ll be in Austin, Texas on Jan. 7 as they are hosted by Austin College
