The Simpson women’s soccer team won 3-0 against Concordia-Chicago on Sunday, Sept. 15, at Buxton Stadium. Junior Cami Schmalz scored two goals during Sunday’s game. Junior Miki Schmidt also scored one goal for Simpson.

“After the game our team is looking really good. I think our team has taken huge steps in the right direction and I’m super excited to see how much we’ve grown since last year,” senior captain Emma Fleddermann said.

The women’s soccer team record is currently 4-0-2. The Simpson team has shutout five teams so far this season. Much of the credit can be given to sophomore goalkeepers Aspen Brockhouse and Rachel Neumann.

“To go undefeated and have shutouts for all of our games up until this point is amazing. It shows a lot about our whole defense and chemistry as a team. I love where we are going and can’t wait for more,” Fleddermann said.

Before the game, the Storm were among 15 teams in the country to not have a goal scored on the them. The team is tied for their best start since 2011.

During the first half in the 15th minute, Schmalz scored the first goal for Simpson unassisted. In the 32nd minute, Schmidt scored the second goal assisted by Tatum Tremain and Sky Delzell. During the second half, Schmalz scored the third goal of the game, and the second of her day. She was assisted by freshman Lizzie Arnburg in the 54th minute. Concordia attempted a total of 10 shots with two coming in the first half and eight coming in the second. Simpson attempted a total of six shots, three in each half.
