“Tiff Whitsell is a very competitive player, and continually works hard at getting better,” says head women’s basketball coach Brian Niemuth. “It is not unusual for her to stay after practice and work on her shooting.”

Whitsell, a senior point guard for the Storm women, is a two-year starter and has played varsity since her freshman year. For years previous, she had played as an off shooting guard, but “took one for the team,” and switched to point this year. She also holds the school record for 3-pointers in one game-most made/shot.

“One of the highlights of my basketball career here at Simpson was when we made it to the NCAA tournament in Texas,” said Whitsell. “I also really enjoyed the out-of-state trips over Christmas break-to Las Vegas, and California.”

Whitsell attended high school at Cedar Rapids Kennedy where they reached the state tournament her senior year.

Whitsell is a senior biology major at Simpson and is a member of the Tri-Beta science club. She plans to attend medical school after graduation.
