Nadas draw crowd to BSC

The Iowa-based band, The Nadas, returned to Simpson College to play to a packed BSC on Friday with much success.

Originally, the gig was booked to be outside in the Kresge courtyard, but due to the colder weather it was relocated inside the BSC gallery.

Even though The Nadas played inside, the BSC gallery seemed transformed into a small club type of atmosphere, sophomore Andy Baker said.

The intimate setting brought an estimated 300 students out of their rooms and into the The Nadas’ territory.

The band’s sound is an ecletic mix of 65 percent Matchbox 20, 15 percent Barenaked Ladies, 10 percent Phish and 10 percent Goo Goo Dolls which equals a 100 percent original blend of genres.

At one point the band pulled out a slower, more somber version of Sixpence None The Richer’s 1998 hit, “There She Goes” which echoed the acoustic duo opening band’s retro tribute to Bon Jovi’s “Livin’ on a Prayer.”
