Teri VanderBeek, a former Simpson student, unexpectedlycollapsed and died last Thursday.

Sophomore Kelsey Bova, a friend of VanderBeek’s, said shesuffered from heart problems. However, Bova said she was neveraware of VanderBeek needing to be taken to the doctor while atSimpson.

VanderBeek was at Simpson in the fall of 2003 and was planningto play basketball. However, she decided to transfer to CentralCollege last spring. This year she has just been told she wouldplay in the varsity team.

“What I’m going to miss the most is her smile,” Bova said. “Youcould be having the worst day, and she would come up with herbright smile and everything would seem better.”
