Epperson, Mueller, Proctor nominated for award

Professor of Political Science John Epperson, Professor of Management Marilyn Mueller and Associate Professor of History Nick Proctor are the nominees for the Distinguished Teacher Award this year

“It’s like an Academy Award,” Epperson said.

Any full-time, active, regularly appointed associate or full professor can be nominated. The nominations were turned in by students, faculty, administration and staff members. A committee of six people – three former winners and three senior-class representatives – narrowed the pool to three candidates.

“I think the committee did a really good job of picking this year’s candidates,” senior April Hurt said.

The nominations are based on several criteria, including concern for students’ personal development.

“I do take my students seriously though and give them opportunities to think in different ways in an attempt to get the most out of them,” Epperson said.

The winner will be announced at commencement.
