Darcie Sprouse is a jack of all trades. Although her office is in Dunn Library, she spends a lot of time in the Brenton Student Center working with the Student Support Services staff. It doesn’t matter if you need help with your math homework, have questions about upcoming cultural events or just need some advice about school, Sprouse can do it all.

Sprouse is the official learning specialist at Simpson College. She assists numerous students with their homework. Currently, she’s leading math discussion groups and helping edit papers.

When she isn’t helping students, she spends time supervising and training supplemental instruction leaders, data reporting for SI leaders, conducting workshops for SSS students, meeting with many students and leading cultural activities. All in all, she spends the majority of her time making college “what it should be.”

Although Sprouse spent her undergraduate time at Iowa State University, she is happy at Simpson College.

“I really enjoy meeting with my students and helping them through the challenges they sometimes face,” Sprouse said. “I also love being an SI supervisor. It gives me the opportunity to use some of my teaching background again.”

Sprouse mentioned that one of the best parts about her job is helping students through the challenges college age people often face. She has always known that she wanted to work at the college level.

“Simpson is a great size and location for what I want to accomplish with my career,” Sprouse said.

Simpson College feels like home to many people. Support staff members like Sprouse are one of the reasons for that feeling. She truly cares for the well being of all students she encounters and looks forward to helping out everyone.
