10. Petersen shows strong first seasonFreshman goalie Megan Petersen has shown strong performances in her first season for the Storm women’s soccer team. Petersen has started seven games for the Storm and has tallied 53 saves as well as three shutouts.
9. Women’s golf takes 3rd in IIAC ChampionshipThe women’s golf team placed third in the IIAC women’s golf championship on Oct. 3. Seniors Katie Vaux and Megan Smith helped lead the way, Vaux placed sixth in the championship with a score of 327, while Smith came in eighth with a score of 333. Sophomore Taylor Hillery earned All-Conference honors with a score of 334, which also placed her in the top ten.
8. Ellingson posts three top-five finishesJunior Catie Ellingson is one of the top performers for the women’s cross country team this season, posting three top-five finishes in the first four meets of the year.
7. Gillespie earns top player honorsSenior outside hitter Lara Gillespie was named IIAC player of the week for the week of Oct 13. Gillespie had 13 kills and a .324 attack percentage in a four-set win over Central on Oct. 7 to help her earn player of the week honors.
6. Oviatt, Friesth named IIAC players of the weekSenior middle hitter Whitney Oviatt and senior libero Brittany Friesth were named IIAC players of the week for the week of Oct. 5.
5. Rogers scores 3 TDs in Buena Vista victoryFreshman Taylor Rogers had a breakout game against the Buena Vista Beavers on Sept. 26, catching five passes for 152 yards and three touchdowns in the Storm’s win over the Beavers.
4. Morgan kicks winning field goal over BVUFreshman place kicker Kevin Morgan made the most of his first collegiate field goal attempt as the newcomer drilled a 29-yard field goal as time expired to give the Storm a 30-28 victory over the Buena Vista Beavers.
3. Winegard scores go-ahead goal against Central Senior midfielder/defender Matt Winegard scored the go-ahead goal in a 2-1 win over Central on Oct. 7 and was named IIAC player of the week for the week of Oct. 13.
2. Volleyball ranked 9th in regionWomen’s volleyball is ranked ninth in the region and has a record of 13-9 overall and 5-1 record in the IIAC.
1. Men’s soccer defeats Central The men’s soccer team beat Central by a score of 2-1 during Homecoming week on Oct. 7. It was the Storm’s win over the Dutch was the first since 2003.
