Netflix has released many great television shows over the years. Recently, “Stranger Things” just had its finale. This meant a new show had to be in the works, and oh, did they have one ready!
“His & Hers” is a new Netflix thriller exploring a murder mystery from the perspectives of two different characters. Through these different perspectives, the writers make the audience think there is a new suspect every five minutes.
The two perspectives come from Anna Andrews, a news reporter who conducts her own investigation into the crime, and Jack Harper, a detective in the town where the murders occurred. Not to mention, they each believe the other is a prime suspect. Through these perspectives, however, you’re still meant to believe 15 different people committed these crimes.
This show is going to bring you on an emotional roller coaster and will be one of the hardest puzzles you have ever tried to solve. The first episode begins at the murder scene, where there are many reporters, including Anna Andrews, and many police and detectives, including Jack Harper.
In the first 20 minutes, viewers discover Anna Andrews and Jack Harper were once married to one another, which creates chaos from the start. She is constantly trying to get answers from Harper so she can make a report on what happened. With the murders going on, they are also constantly trying to make each other jealous.
This show is only six episodes long, each 40 to 50 minutes, and action-packed. When beginning this show, I had just finished Stranger Things and needed something to fill my time during syllabus week, and I heard some rumors about this show being “crazy.” So, I sat down at 8 p.m. to watch the first episode before I went to sleep.
Five hours later, I went to sleep. Once seated, the show could not be stopped until it was over. Halfway through the last episode, you think you finally figure out who the culprit is. Then, the show drops a bomb on you, and it turns out to be someone else, and you’re left to watch the end credits in disbelief.
I stayed up another hour, during which I discussed what I had just watched with my brother. Overall, “His & Hers” is a standout show from Netflix. To anyone who loves thrillers and mysteries, this is a great show for you, but be ready to spend five straight hours figuring out who the real suspect is.
