Spring has arrived, which means summer will be here soon. Nothing is better than enjoying an ice cream treat on a hot summer day.
Dairy Queen is the perfect place to find that ice cream treat, and they have recently released their 2025 summer Blizzard treat menu. This year, their summer Blizzard menu features the Mixing Bowl Mashup, Dipped Strawberry Cheesecake, S’mores, Confetti Cake and Cotton Candy.
Recently, my family went to Dairy Queen, where we chose to conduct a taste test of the five seasonal treats.
First was Cotton Candy. None of us likes cotton candy or its flavor, so we knew this one would not be one of our favorites. We were correct in our prediction. The cotton candy flavor was faint, and the consistency was good, with sprinkles blended into the vanilla soft serve ice cream. We rated it the lowest among the five flavors.
The Dipped Strawberry Cheesecake was next. This is the first year for this Blizzard Treat. It appeals to those who enjoy the blend of strawberry and chocolate flavors. It features vanilla soft serve, cheesecake pieces, chocolate chunks and a strawberry topping. My family had mixed reviews on the flavor due to the combination. However, the texture of the ice cream, cheesecake and chocolate pieces was quite good. We ranked it the second lowest of the five flavors.
Confetti Cake is returning to the menu to celebrate DQ’s 85th birthday. I was most excited about this one, but ultimately, I was disappointed. This treat features vanilla soft serve, confetti cake pieces and confetti frosting. The flavor was excellent, but the consistency completely ruined it for all of us. The cake pieces were tiny, making the texture feel grainy. It would have been amazing if they could make the cake pieces larger, similar to the cheesecake pieces. For this reason, my family ranked this third.
S’mores are returning to the menu, and it has been a favorite in the past. Vanilla soft serve is blended with graham crackers and marshmallow-filled chocolate bars. This reminds me of the campfire treat, and it is delicious. The flavor and consistency are perfect. My family enjoyed this one.
Last is the Mixing Bowl. This brand-new Blizzard combines vanilla soft serve with brownie batter and chocolate chip cookie dough. It is out of this world. The flavor is chocolaty without being overly rich, and the cookie dough chunks have a pleasing texture. We all agreed this was a Blizzard we would buy again.
My family members ranked the last two flavors similarly. Due to the cookie-dough flavor, I chose S’mores as the runner-up and Mixing Bowl as the ultimate winner. As summer heats up and you look for a treat to help cool you down, try Dairy Queen’s summer Blizzard menu and see if you agree with our rankings.
