First of all, I just want to say that Rihanna is far better than Beyonce. This was the most I was looking forward to a Super Bowl halftime performance since Kendrick Lamar, Eminem, Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre performed. Granted, that was last year and we have had the pleasure to experience two amazing back-to-back performances.

Rihanna came out in a red jumpsuit-looking thing that started out very baggy. Her dancers were in white suits, and there were a lot of them.

As the performance started, it was very dark. Then all of a sudden the camera is on Rihanna. Oh the moment we have been waiting for… Wait, is she flying above the field on a platform? Are her dancers on platforms flying above the field as well? Yes! She was flying above the field performing pretty much the whole thing. When the camera zoomed in on the dancers on the flying rafts that they were on, it showed the platforms shaking a little bit. No way I would fly above the stadium like that. Well, maybe for the money she got paid to do it.

Now, I am no fanboy of Rihanna or anything, but she really sounded good. Everyone in the room where I was pretty much knew all of the songs, and that part was pretty cool. Why not bring someone to perform that a good majority of the population knows a song or two from? 

As the show went on, Rihanna’s red jumpsuit turned into an even bigger jumpsuit, that kind of looked like a dress. It was very cool. I will say, her backup dancers were reminding me a lot of the oompa loompas from “Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory.” Sure enough, after the performance was over, social media was saying the same thing.

For anyone who doesn’t know, Rihanna and famous rapper A$AP Rocky had a child in May and just a few months after, she’s performing at the Super Bowl. That alone is very impressive.  

As I was sitting at my brother’s best friend’s house watching the game at their Super Bowl party, my brother all of a sudden goes, “She looks pregnant.” Everyone in the room said, “She just had a baby, give her a break.” After the show was over, social media flooded with the same thoughts as my brother. The rumors were true. I guess my brother can really tell when a woman is pregnant.

Overall, I thought the performance was great, and the dancing was very amusing to watch, and so was the football game.
