ISO to hold ‘international spook fest’
October 27, 2021
The International Student Organization (ISO) will hold its first-ever “spook fest” Thursday night where students will get to take part in storytelling, a spooky ambiance and tons of international snacks and games.
The event will take place on Oct. 28 from 7 – 9 p.m. in Hubbell II, where students can bring their own blankets and pillows to sit on the floor and get cozy while eating, playing games and sharing cultural stories.
Jenny Nguyen, a member of ISO, said the idea had been tossed around the group for a while but that this year is the first time it will actually be held.
“This has been an ongoing idea in ISO for many years but hasn’t ever become an actual event until this year. It was a group effort,” Nguyen said.
Nguyen says anyone who attends Simpson can come and that all students are welcome. The event holds special importance as most ISO events do, Nguyen explained.
“We hope to broaden the student body’s view of the world by sharing the various cultures that make up our community. There’s always a lot to learn from events like these. We hope to break down barriers and biases with these events that promote open communication in a fun and interactive style,” Nguyen said.
