“The Vow” receives high praise
February 21, 2012
There is nothing like a true love story to brighten up a Friday night, so I, along with the rest of the Simpson population, went to see “The Vow” on opening night.
I looked down the line of people waiting to enter the movie and was shocked to see the line going out the door. Even more surprising was the number of guys waiting as well and all I could think was those poor, poor guys.
As the doors of the theatre opened, everyone rushed in so they wouldn’t miss a minute.
The movie took me through a mix of emotions, and I will admit I even shed a few tears.
I’ll also admit that I enjoyed every second that Channing Tatum was on the screen.
The movie started with a couple, Paige and Leo, on a date that ends with a tragic accident.
The accident causes Paige to lose her memory, including every memory she had involving Leo. She wakes up in the hospital completely confused about her life.
For her, it is years earlier and she’s living a different life. She now has to go home with a husband she doesn’t know and learn to live her life all over again.
Of course Leo is still very much in love with Paige, but she’s having trouble feeling the same way.
Leo spends the course of the movie trying to rekindle their romance and make his wife fall in love with him all over again.
He tries everything from taking her to their favorite spots, to thinking of new, breathtaking dates. It’s clear by his actions that he is so deeply in love with his wife, he would risk anything to save their marriage.
It was one of those movies where my eyes were glued to the screen the whole time and I didn’t check the time once. Now you may have heard some mixed reviews over this movie but let me give you my opinion.
I absolutely loved it. It is a movie that I could watch over and over again and never get sick of.
Now, it doesn’t hurt that Channing Tatum is shirtless a number of times, and the fact that it was based on a true love story makes it even more precious.
I thoroughly enjoyed every second of this romance-filled movie.
Although the movie was fantastic, the ending wasn’t up-to-par. It was surprising and disappointing at the same time. I wanted more.
I’ll also agree with the fact that much of the movie was in the previews. Despite this fact, the movie was still excellent. Many of the big moments were touched on in the previews but there were plenty left to see.
All in all, it was a very entertaining 104 minutes. I hope all the guys there were taking notes because let’s be honest, what girl wouldn’t want a romance like that?
I would give this movie a solid 5 out of 5 stars.
