Recap of Storm golf invite

The Simpson Storm men’s golf team finished second out of seven teams, Tuesday morning in their home invitational.

The Storm were led by freshman Trent Lindenman who shot 4- over 75 for the day. Lindenman’s performance put him in a tie for first at the end of the 18-hole tournament.

The Storm had two teams competing on the day, but both unfortunately they fell three strokes behind tournament champion Wartburg. The “Red” team shot a 322 while the “Gold” squad shot a 332.

Eight players finished in the top twenty for the Storm. ConnerJuilfs, Andy Hutchins, Shaan Desai and Jimmy Siebert all carded a 7-over-par 78, who all combined for a five way tie for seventh place.

Head Coach Jason Marvelli felt his team played at a moderate pace and saw some bright spots in his young team.

“It was an average day, but we played well as a team today,” Marvelli said. “We made some significant strides but I was really impressed with my second and third team’s performances this afternoon.

Junior Joe Hupp was happy with his team’s performance and felt they came ready to compete.

“I felt the team competed very well today,” Hupp said. “We got to see some solid scores throughout the entire team.”

The Storm’s prepare for the Dubuque invitational Sep. 22 and 23. Play starts at 9:00 am both days.
