For the third straight season, the Storm (1-2) were defeated by the Vikings (5-4) by a score 58-46. In a game that was considered as “Redemption Tuesday,” Simpson fell short of their goals in a hopeful victory on the night.

Simpson started the game, or for that matter the first half of the evenings’ contest, very sluggish going into halftime. With just a little over five minutes remaining, the Storm found themselves down 30-12. The squad found some surge, however, closing in on the deficit bit-by-bit before the halftime buzzer at 34-18.

Coming out of the visiting locker room to start the second half, however, a different Simpson basketball team came to play.

The Storm came back as close as six points with a 46-40 Grand View lead at the 7:10 mark. The igniting spark of energy would not be enough however, as the Vikings never looked back and never losing their lead.

Kody Ingle led all Grand View players with a team-high 23 points. The 6’3” junior guard/forward from Altoona, Iowa was a two-time all-conference honorable mention pick in the Midwest Collegiate Conference. He was also 5-for-5 from the charity stripe. On the night the Vikings shot 44 percent from the field, 33 percent from behind the arc and shot 91 percent from the free-throw line. Grand View committed just 12 turnovers in the game.

For Simpson, sophomore guard Charles Swain posted a team-high 14 points for the Storm. Junior forward Austin Hennings scored 13 points with four rebounds and senior point-guard Elijah Knox had eight points with five steals and two assists. Knox however also had a team-high five turnovers in the loss.

Simpson shot just 36 percent from the field, 24 percent from 3-point territory and just 59 percent when shooting free throws. The Storm committed 18 turnovers and 18 points were scored upon those turnovers. Simpson did out-rebound Grandview 31-25 and with points-in-the-paint 20-16.

The Storm return home to Cowles Fieldhouse Dec. 2 as they battle against AIB. Tip-off is slated to begin at 3 p.m.
