Simpson stomps Dutch for Niemuth’s 495th win
January 24, 2013
Simpson women got one step closer to 500 wins for Head Coach Brian Niemuth on Wednesday with an easy stomping of the Dutch 73-56.
The Storm came into today’s match with a record of 16-1, and 6-0 in conference. Central on the other hand has had their fair share of struggles this year as they came into the match with a 9-8 record, and 2-5 in conference.
The first half was all Storm as they were doing it on both ends of the court. They were causing turnover by the Dutch left and right, making it a very frustrating night to say the least. Simpson forced 29 turnovers charged to the Dutch.
To top that off the Storm were on fire tonight shooting as well. Freshmen Brooke Panzer and Senior Kate Nielsen were hot all night torturing the Dutch down low as well as with their shooting game. The Storm went into halftime with a commanding leading over the Dutch, 35-21.
The second half was much of the same for the Storm. Nielsen was on fire and came out of the locker room scoring ten quick points extending the lead to 47-28. Everything that could go right seemed to for the Storm, and it couldn’t have come at a better time, when facing their rivals.
The Storm had this game in the bags early in the second half where they could just cruise to the finish which is exactly what they did, sending the Dutch home with a sour taste in their mouths.
The Storm keep rolling as they improve to 7-0 in conference and look to make it 8-0 as they take on Coe for the final time this regular season Saturday. Tip off will be at 2 p.m.
