Men’s & Women’s Cross Country Finish in the Middle of Pack at Brissman-Lundeen Invite

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Both the men’s and women’s cross country teams headed just across the Mississippi River Friday to run in the Brissman-Lundeen Invitational hosted by Augustana College on Friday.

The men and women’s fields included teams from Division II, III, NAIA, and junior college levels of competition across the Midwest.

Men’s Cross Country: 16th/39

The Simpson men’s cross country team finished with a collective score of 508 to find themselves on the better half of the 39 teams that ran in the men’s heat.

Division III University of Chicago placed first with a team score of 74. Other notables included IIAC foe Dubuque University who finished behind Simpson at 19th, and in-state rival Grinnell College at 17th.

Ethan Pelligrino lead the Simpson men finishing 80th out of 532 runners. Blake Willadsen wasn’t far behind at 81. Other finishers included:

Women’s Cross Country:

Freshman Sadie Timms finished an impressive 40th out of 498 runners to lead the women’s team to a 19th place finish in the 35 team heat.

Once again the University of Chicago lead the way, finishing 1st with a team score of 115. The Spartans of the University of Dubuque finished one behind the Storm in 20th while Grinnell was slotted at 14th.

Men’s and women’s cross country will lace up their sneakers again on Oct. 4 as they head down to Fayetteville, Ark. for the heavily attended Chile Pepper Festival.
