Women’s swim and dive drops home meet to Iowa Lakes

INDIANOLA, Iowa – Women’s swim and dive had one first place finish followed by seven second place finishes as they lost to Iowa Lakes Community College, 146-66 Saturday.

Junior Mackenzie Carson won the women’s 1-meter dive with a score of 159.30 as she beat Dev Agnew.

The quartet of Megan Buitendorp, Megan Lein, Erica Carlson and Alex Vander Veen finished second in the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 4:39.80.

Christina Amburgy finished strong down the stretch in the 200-yard freestyle to take second with a time of 2:09.57. Amburgy would also finish second in the 100-yard freestyle.

Other individual second place finishes for the Storm were Tori Haag in the 200 yard IM, Buitendorp in the 200-yard backstroke, and Lein in the 200-yard breaststroke.

The Simpson women took second once again in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 4:14.65.

With the loss, women’s swimming and dive is now 1-4 in dual meets on the season.

Simpson has one remaining home meet on Jan. 24 with Nebraska Wesleyan University.

The Storm won’t return to the pool until they head to Grinnell for a second time this season on Jan. 16 and 17, this time for the Grinnell Invitational.
