INDIANOLA, Iowa – In the last two seasons, Simpson had lost 5-0 and 8-0 to Grand View while not having scored a single goal against Vikings in five years.

The Storm broke the scoreless streak on Tuesday night but they couldn’t quite crack the highway 65-69 foes as a double-overtime goal toppled the Storm 2-1 at Buxton Stadium.

Syd Gutschenritter would score Grand View’s (5-4-1) first goal in the 51st minute, giving them a 1-0. That advantage wouldn’t last long though as Mackenzie Stump evened up the score with an unassisted score in the 53rd minute.

Logan Johnson fed Kaylee Grote with a cross in the box for the deciding goal as Grote pocketed the game-winner on a one-timer.

Grand View dominated in scoring opportunities, outshooting Simpson 19-4, with Stump’s goal being the only shot on goal recorded by Simpson (2-7).

Zoe Seiler fell to 1-5 in the net for Simpson, making six saves while letting two shots slip by.

The Storm will get back into conference play on Saturday, Oct. 3 looking to snap a five-game losing streak. Dubuque will be on the slate with kickoff set for 5 p.m.
