INDIANOLA, Iowa – Buena Vista hit .337 and Simpson just .077 as the Beavers handed the Storm a 3-0 (25-17, 25-9, 25-18) loss in the home opener at Cowles Fieldhouse on Tuesday night.

The Beavers (12-7, 2-1) quickly set the pace, winning 25-17 and then rolling the Storm 25-9 in set two behind a .353 hitting percentage.

Jade Schaap was the lone player to record double-digit kills for Buena Vista, notching 11, but Buena Vista made only eight attacking errors to 19 for Simpson (9-9, 0-3).

Sophomore Jacqueline Luth was Simpson’s leader offensively, putting up eight kills while Tabitha Blasér had seven for an attack that was stifled for much of the night.

The loss snapped Simpson’s four-match winning streak while keeping them winless in conference play. The Storm get back to tournament play this Friday, Oct. 2 at the Illinois Wesleyan Classic.

First-serve is set at 5:30 p.m. against Lincoln Christian in Bloomington, Ill.
