CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Megan Bradley and Sidney Griffith reached the quarterfinals of singles play and the duo of Michelle Hartmann and Cassidy Bierbrodt did so in doubles, but Simpson failed to reach day two of the IIAC Women’s Tennis Individual Tournament at the Clark Racquet Center and Veterans Memorial Tennis Complex on Friday, Oct. 9.

Singles play was divided up into three flights, with Kelli Ehrhardt and Michelle Hartmann representing the Storm in Flight A. Neither would advance to round two.

Bradley picked up Simpson in Flight B though, winning 8-4 in round one over Wartburg’s Carly Sis and then 3-6, 6-1, 1-0 (3) in round two. Number one seeded Jessica Dickhut took down Bradley in straight sets in the quarterfinals.

In Flight C, Griffith advanced to the quarterfinals with wins of 8-5 and 8-3, but Marissa Joers of Dubuque was too much, ending Griffith’s run with an 8-0 win.

Hartmann and Bierbrodt needed only one win to reach the quarterfinals in Flight A doubles, and they did so, winning 9-7. A duo from Luther chopped them down 8-1 in the quarterfinals, though.

Day two ensued with the qualifiers from day one, finishing the fall women’s tennis season for the Iowa Conference teams.
