Q: Where are you from?

A: I am from Keota, Iowa. It’s a really small town about 45 minutes southwest of Iowa City.

Q: What do you study and what were you involved in on campus?

A: I majored in History and Political Science. Throughout my time at Simpson, I’ve been involved in the John C. Culver Public Policy Center, and speech and debate team. I’m a Vote Everywhere Ambassador for the Andrew Goodman Foundation, and I am also a career peer.

Q: What is one of your favorite Simpson memories?

A: That’s a good question. Probably exploring Washington D.C. during May term my sophomore year. I made some really good friends during that trip and we went on a lot of really cool tours. I really discovered my love for Washington D.C.

Q: What are you going to miss most about Simpson?

A: I’m definitely going to miss the professors the most. I really enjoyed taking classes with them. I feel like they’ve pushed me to be and do my best as a student. And to follow the career path I am really hoping to follow.

Q: What are your plans for after graduation?

A: After graduation, I am hoping to pursue a grad-school program in museum studies or public history with the ultimate goal of working as a curator in a history museum somewhere.

Q: If you could live anywhere, where would you live?

A: Washington D.C., 100-percent. I spent a whole semester there and I absolutely loved it. I’m counting down the days until I can move back.

Q: What’s your dream tattoo?

A: I think tattoos are cool but I’m also really indecisive sometimes. So I’m kind of afraid of the commitment of getting a tattoo, but if I got one it would probably be an inspirational quote on my foot.

Q: What are some tips you have for underclassmen?

A: I would definitely say join different clubs, meet new people, try new things. That’s kind of what college is all about. I would also really, really recommend trying out different internships. I know for me that’s really been the way that I’ve learned what I wanted to do with my life. I’ve had internships where I ended up deciding that wasn’t what I want to do for my career and I’ve had other internships where I was like ‘oh wait this is what I want to do.’ So try new things and do an internship, that would be my advice.
