DUBUQUE, Iowa – Simpson shot a abysmal 25.5 percent (14 of 55) and were held to a season-low in scoring as it fell 60-39 to Loras in the regular season finale.

The loss makes Simpson (15-10, 8-6) the No. 5 seed in the Iowa Conference Tournament, pitting them against No. 4 Buena Vista (14-11, 8-6) on Tuesday, Feb. 23 in Storm Lake.

The Duhawks outscored Simpson 36-21 in the second half, being fueled by a 10-0 out of the break as they ran away with the game late.

Simpson did lead early, holding a 15-9 advantage after the first quarter before being overtaken by Loras midway through the second quarter.

Loras (17-9, 10-4) leads the IIAC in rebounding and it showed Saturday. The Duhawks outrebounded Simpson 50-30 and outscored the Storm 32-16 in the paint.

Noreen Morrow scored 24 against Loras in January but was held to only two on Saturday. Katie Ahrenholtz led the Storm with 12 points off the bench in only 10 minutes, being matched by Lori Obendorf with 12 for Loras.

Tournament Time:

As mentioned, Simpson takes on Buena Vista in the first round of the Iowa Conference Tournament on Tuesday in Storm Lake. Simpson split with the Beavers this year but won the last matchup 71-64 in Indianola on Feb. 17.
