INDIANOLA, Iowa — The Simpson College student body has elected its first-ever sophomore student body representatives.

The Student Government Associated made the announcement Wednesday on its Facebook page that Sydney Samples and Pierce Carey were elected, defeating juniors Kelsey Schott and Drew Jensen.

“I want to thank everyone that voted and made their voice heard,” President-elect Samples said in an email to The Simpsonian. “I look forward to being a voice for students and working with administration to advocate on their behalf.”

“I am so honored,” Vice President-elect Carey added. “I look forward to working with Sydney, the student government association and the Simpson’s administration to bettering the college for all students.”

Samples, of Des Moines, is majoring in political science and environmental studies with a minor in Spanish.

Carey, of Salina, Kansas, is a political science major with a minor in management.

The two will be sworn in at Wednesday night’s SGA meeting.
