Simpson ranks high with U.S. News and World Report

For the sixth consecutive year, U.S. News and World Report named Simpson College to the top 10 list for comprehensive colleges in the Midwest, a distinction that includes colleges from 13 states that offer bachelor’s degrees.

Simpson ranked seventh on the regional list this year.

The ranking is based on academic reputation, graduation and retention rates, faculty resources and reputation as determined by peer institutions.

Simpson is also ranked first on the “Midwest’s Best Values” list, which is also regional.

This list ranks school is terms of cost to attend in relation to the school’s academic quality.

U.S. Air Force Heartland of America Band to

perform at Simpson

The United States Air Force Heartland of America Band Clarinet Quartet will present a program of works for clarinet ensemble on Sunday, Oct. 5 at 3 p.m. in Great Hall.

The clarinet quartet is part of the 60-member United States Air Force Heartland of America Band, stationed at Offutt Air Force Base near Omaha.

The unit’s repertoire includes classical, contemporary, jazz, rock and country.

Its various musical components perform over 450 concerts annually touring extensively and performing for thousands of civilian and military audiences throughout the United States.

The concert is free and open to the public; Great Hall is located above Pfeiffer Dining Hall on Simpson’s Indianola campus.
