Women’s Cross Country

3rd @ Augustana’s Brissman/Lundeen Invitational (156), Sept. 21: Freshman Catie Ellingson placed 23rd overall. Sophomore Sarah Hammel (25) and sophomore Jess Christensen (28) were also top 30 runners.

Football (1-3 Overall, 0-2 IIAC)

L 35-20 vs. Dubuque, Sept. 22: The Storm led 20-7 at halftime before surrendering 28 points to the Spartans second half. Senior wide receiver Trent Kain caught nine passes for 141 yards and totaled 96 yards on seven punt returns.

Men’s Soccer (3-4, 1-0 IIAC)

L 2-1 @ Carleton, Sept. 19: Sophomore defender Connor Skultety scored the lone goal for Simpson.

W 3-1 @ Coe, Sept. 22: Simpson opened up with their first win of the season. Freshman mid-fielder Erik Montelongo had a pair of goals while freshman mid-fielder Rob Smiley added another.

Women’s Soccer (3-4, 1-0 IIAC)

W 3-1 @ Grinnell, Sept. 19: Sophomore forward Kellie Whitney, freshman mid-fielder Kristin Granath, and sophomore mid-fielder Erin Vinnedge scored goals for the Storm. Junior goalkeeper Whitney Franker had 12 saves in the game. Simpson got out-shot 31-9.

W 3-1 @ Coe, Sept. 22: Granath, Whitney and senior defender Kate Nichols scored goals for Simpson.

Women’s Tennis (5-7, 4-4 IIAC)

W 6-3 vs. Wartburg, Sept. 19: Junior Jessica Nims, sophomore Alissa Nance, freshman Jill Berner, and junior Gwen Kingsbury notched singles victories. Junior Jackie Suckow and Nance and Berner and Kingsbury won in doubles.

W 9-0 @ Clarke, Sept. 21: Senior Martha Davis, junior Jessica Lashier, Nims, Suckow, Nance, and Berner swept in singles, while Davis and Nims, Nance and Suckow and Berner and Kingsbury won in doubles.

W 7-2 @ Loras, Sept. 22: Davis, Berner, Suckow and Kingsbury won in singles. Davis and Nims, Suckow and Nance and Berner and Kingsbury took doubles victories.

W 8-1 @ Dubuque, Sept. 22: Davis, Nims, Suckow, Nance, Berner and Lashier recorded singles wins. Suckow and Nance and Berner and Kingsbury won doubles.

Volleyball (8-3, 2-1 IIAC)

W 3-0 vs. Dubuque, Sept. 19: Freshman outside-hitter Amy Schuster tallied 12 kills. Junior middle-hitter Jayna Fischbach added 10 kills while hitting .381.
