Students Encouraged To Share Experiences

A video to showcase Simpson’s positive influence on its students is in the works thanks to Career Services.

Associate Dean of Students Stephanie Krauth shared a video made by Iowa State University’s Dean of Students Office highlighting students’ experiences at the university with Director of Career Services Jennifer del Pino and decided to make one for Simpson.

Krauth and del Pino enlisted one of their Career Coaches, senior Rachel Mooty, to work on the video with them.

While they plan to make a video similar to Iowa State’s, Krauth said that they will be using different music and making it more creative and colorful. All they need now are a few students willing to share their own Simpson stories.

“We need students who want to ‘star’ in this video,” del Pino said.

Mooty is in charge of the music and recruiting people to be in the video. Students are needed to represent everything at Simpson including involvement in clubs, organizations, athletics, internships, service and all majors.

“Anyone who has an experience and wants to share it,” Mooty said.

Junior Jorie Landers has been positively affected by her time spent at Simpson and found that there is more to the college than she first thought.

“Simpson has provided me with such an incredible community of professors, staff and friends that encourage me in the life I want to live,” Landers said. “I have found people here that not only encourage me but challenge me daily.”

Volunteering at groups like Catholic Worker House and Haven Club as well as participating in CVIL opportunities like being a Wesley Service Scholar and the Lilly Internship, Landers has found her passion.

“I came to Simpson expecting to graduate with the intentions of becoming a high school math teacher,” Landers said. “Now I want to end homelessness.”

Any students who would like to share their own Simpson experience should contact Rachel Mooty.
