April 21: Local journalists serve as the judges for Simpson’s senior multimedia students as they compete to become the college’s first Iron Journalist at 3:30 p.m. in McNeill 107.
April 21: Simpson celebrates the 50th anniversary of human spaceflight with a screening of Christopher Riley’s “First Orbit,” retracing Yuri Gagarin’s daring solo flight around the Earth in 1961.
April 26: Des Moines Register columnist Rekha Basu is the speaker at another of the Evening. Weekend and Graduate program’s “Insight on Leadership Development” series at 5 p.m. at the West Des Moines campus.
April 29: Simpson student Brandon Hebert urges students to “Believe. Achieve. Follow Your Dreams.,” at 1 p.m. in room 120, Mary Berry Hall.
Simpson’s chapter Best Buddies wins awards
The Best Buddy chapter at Simpson College brought home two awards this past weekend. They received the “Buddy Bling Bling” award and “Chapter of the Year for Colleges” award. Junior Amanda Coughenour is the president of Best Buddies and Carolyn Dallinger, associate professor of social work and criminal justice, is the adviser for the chapter.
