The man behind the mask

by Our View

Many of the hardest workers on Simpson’s campus go years without any thanks or notice.

Some of these workers are those who spent countless hours fixing our heat, our computers and making phone calls, sending emails and networking with professionals so that we can have internships lined up.

One person on campus, however, that doesn’t get much recognition is the director of Simpson Colloquium (SC).

This person works all year, though heavily in the spring and summer months, with faculty and eventually with students who are selected as destination leaders and writing fellows to help ease the transition for freshmen into college classrooms.

This person helps train and prepare faculty and helps them strengthen their coursework so incoming freshmen have the best classroom experience Simpson can provide.

After years of hard work and helping Simpson make the transition from the old Liberal Arts Seminar to the new SC, Nicolas Proctor is stepping down as the director of SC in preparation for his coming sabbatical in the spring of 2013.

We want to thank you for your hard work, your time and your perseverance while helping Simpson make the transition, and want you to know that your hard work doesn’t go unnoticed.
