Hot shooting sprung the Kohawks to an early lead, and continued to help them maintain a lead throughout the night.

With great shooting to finish out the game, Coe was able to pull away with the win 79-65.

“Getting down early is tough,” said junior Ryan Olson. “Trying to come back from a huge deficit is killing us, and it doesn’t help when they aren’t missing much.”

Chris Zimmerman finished the game with 11 points from the field and was the Storm’s leading scorer. Elijah Knox finished with nine boards and six assists leading the Storm in both categories.

Simpson did well to stay with Coe as far as turnovers, but gave up 16-second chance points in the paint to help the Kohawks maintain their lead late. 


There wasn’t much the Storm could do to control the hot shooting of the Kohawks. They finished the game shooting 52 percent from the field, while shooting 42 percent from behind the three-point mark. Simpson was only able to shoot 34.5 percent.

“They shot well from the field,” said head coach Charles Zanders. “It’s tough to rebound when we play them tight and they still shoot 42 percent from the field.”

The Storm have another challenge approaching them quickly with Central coming to town Wednesday at home.

“It’s another team with great shooters and great scorers,” said senior Olu Rotibi. “We’ve got to defend all their scorers.”
